….to provide for advanced instruction and to conduct original investigation in all branches of knowledge, in particular, in such branches of knowledge as  are likely to promote the material and industrial welfare of India..”

Welcome

Created by the pioneering vision of the great industrialist Sri Jametji Nusserwanji Tata in 1909, the Institute has always been sensitive, since its inception, to the needs of industries in India. The Centre for Scientific and Industrial Consultancy (CSIC), established in 1975 for sustaining a strong interaction between the academia and the industry, is the first of its kind in an academic institution. CSIC provides a single window for industries to access the wide array of scientific and engineering talent available within the Institute. In a world where science and technology grow at exponential rates, there is a continuous need to inform the industry of new directions of research at the Institute and of the creation of new and sophisticated facilities at IISc. This document is intended to highlight scientific research of special interest to industry at the Institute. While this document is not a comprehensive account of the vast spectrum of contributions of researchers at the Institute, it will provide a glimpse of the dynamism, adaptivity and high calibre of the faculty and students at the Institute.
The Institute greatly values its interaction with industry, and faculty and students derive immense pleasure when their scientific research is locally relevant and benefits society through innovative involvement of Indian industry.
There are many success stories at the Institute borne out of interactions between IISc faculty and industry through the CSIC. We have no doubt that the CSIC will provide the friendliest of interfaces between industries and the Institute and ensure that the interactions are fruitful and result in products and processes of benefit to the country
